Empowered

This powerful message invites us into the transformative reality of Pentecost, where God's promise of the Holy Spirit became a world-changing event. Drawing from Acts 1 and 2, we're reminded that the Holy Spirit didn't come merely to make us feel something, but to accomplish something through us. Like those first disciples who waited in the upper room, we're called to prepare our hearts through prayer and surrender before stepping into our purpose. The fascinating comparison to the Kentucky Derby winner who came from dead last reminds us that God specializes in taking what the world overlooks and empowering it for extraordinary purposes. The Holy Spirit transforms burned-out lights into beacons that illuminate entire communities. We learn that spiritual baptism isn't just about personal experience—it's about public mission. When we're filled with the Spirit, we receive dunamis power, the same explosive, supernatural force that turned fearful fishermen into bold witnesses who turned the world upside down. The challenge before us is clear: Are we willing to move beyond merely housing the Spirit to being endowed with power from on high? God wants to do more in one Spirit-filled year than we could accomplish in fifty years on our own strength. The question isn't whether God is ready to empower us, but whether we're ready to surrender completely to His purposes.
